Epitalon
Type: Synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala–Glu–Asp–Gly, AEDG)
Description
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide composed of the amino acid sequence Ala–Glu–Asp–Gly (AEDG). It was developed from studies of epithalamin, a peptide complex originally isolated from the pineal gland, and has become a widely investigated research peptide in laboratory studies involving cellular biology, aging-related mechanisms, and molecular signaling.
In laboratory and preclinical research, Epitalon is commonly utilized to investigate telomere biology, telomerase-associated pathways, circadian rhythm regulation, gene expression, and peptide-mediated cellular communication. Its well-characterized structure has also made it a valuable tool for studying peptide–DNA interactions, epigenetic regulation, and structure–activity relationships (SAR) under controlled experimental conditions.
